Tutoring Session 05/27/26 (Anna & Piero)

 Date/Time: Wednesday, May 27th, 4:30-6:00pm

Location: FSU Student Union

Topic/Skill: Non-Countable vs Countable Nouns & Quantifiers, Conversational Speaking

Feedback provided to the tutee: I presented my tutee with a review in the form of a brief PowerPoint of countable and non-countable nouns, as well as the quantifiers that should be used with each type of noun. After reviewing this grammar topic, I informally quizzed my tutee by showing various nouns in countable and non-countable forms and having my tutee fill in the blank with the best quantifier (e.g., "how much water?" vs "how many water bottles?"). This allowed me to give more indirect feedback during the review process by correcting slight errors in my tutee's recollection of this grammar topic while giving more direct feedback when asking the "quiz-like" questions.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: During this tutoring session, I learned the benefit of being over-prepared in terms of possible material to cover or activities to do. My tutee and I began the tutoring session by having a casual conversation catching up, I was able to utilize this casual conversation time to pinpoint errors made by my tutee, and I had two possible options of activities we could complete so I chose the most fitting one based on errors being made by my tutee. I feel that the flow and progression of our session starting and ending with casual conversation/overview of the lesson helped to create a welcoming and "mistake-friendly" environment.
